Josef Fečo (CZ)
He comes from a Romani musician family. Josef had great examples at home, his father was an excellent double bass player, his mother a singer and his great role model was always his grandfather, who is an excellent violinist and composer. Josef played the guitar from the age of four, but his desire was to play the violin like his grandfather. He played the violin until the age of eleven, after which he was attracted by the dulcimer and began to devote himself to it one hundred percent. The dulcimer meant a lot to him. From the age of 11, he became a member of a larger ensemble directed by his grandfather. This ensemble was called (ROMALE AVEN IMAR DŽIVAS). They toured several prestigious festivals throughout Europe with this ensemble. Unfortunately, this beautiful instrument does not have significant opportunities for application in our country, which led to his decision to learn to play the double bass.
He graduated from the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory, majoring in double bass and bass guitar. During his studies at the conservatory, he met many artists. For example, with Karel Růžička. Since 1999, he has been a permanent member of his trio. Josef is today one of the most sought-after double bass player in the Czech Republic, his musical interests include jazz, funk, pop, soul and folklore. He is also a composer and arranger and collaborates with the top of our and international scene - Karel Růžička Trio, Zuzana Lapčíková Quintet, Libor Šmoldas Quartet, Rostislav Fraš etc.
